Hello, my name is

Tyler Mathes.

I solve problems through design + code.

I’m a hybrid interaction designer and front-end engineer specializing in enterprise design systems. Currently, I’m focused on building out the design system and creating accessible, human-centered products at Availity in Jacksonville, FL.

About Me

Hello! My name is Tyler and I love technology! My interest in design started when I was traveling the Western Pacific with the Navy – I used to collect event flyers in each country I would visit! Eventually I had to make my own flyers (which were terrible), so I went to school for Design and Digital Media at the University of North Florida, which is where I fell in love with the web.

Fast-forward to today, where I’ve had the privilege of working on websites for a boutique web design agency for the hotel industry, callcenter software for a major health insurance company, and a SaaS framework used nationwide by millions of providers.

My main focus these days is building future-proof enterprise design systems at scale, bridging the gap between developers and designers, and advocating for accessibility through user-centered design.

Outside of work, I like to catch a game with my son (Go Jags!), or work on other creative hobbies. Recently I've been into making music with modular analog hardware synthesizers, it's wild!

Here are a few tools I’ve been working with recently:

  • JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Design Tokens
  • React
  • Figma
  • Style Dictionary
  • Material UI
